These beautiful candles are the handiwork of Fr. Povilas, Rector of the Shrine of Divine Mercy in Vilnius Lithuania, the Home of the Original Image of Divine Mercy. He started making beeswax candles as a fundraiser for the sanctuary which still sees only a comparatively small number of visitors every year because so few people actually realize the significance of Vilnius in the history of Divine Mercy. The Sanctuary, once the Church of the Holy Trinity, was the last church Fr. Sopoćko was assigned to before he escaped on the last train to Białystok in 1947. Today, Fr Povilas and The Original Divine Mercy Institute run a small gift shop next to the Shrine of Divine Mercy - one of the only places in the world where items can be purchased featuring the Original Image of Divine Mercy.
